As of the time of this writing, we are in the time of Mars in Aries. This is a high-intensity, action-oriented time. As we’ve seen so far (before I get this article up), there’s been a great deal going on.
The Lowdown
Mars’ domicile is the sign of Aries. This greatly increases its power and influence. Themes regarding ouir selves, our identities, and our core ambitions are enhanced when Mars is here.
Mars rules fire, passion, energy, drive, the will to go for what we desire, and assertiveness in the best case scenarios.
The dangers of Mars in Aries are in an increase of aggression, rage, violence, passive-aggressiveness for those who are not as assertive, and a desire to dominate.
The Current Cycle (5/24/2022 – 7/4/2022)
Mars’ Initial Entry Into Aries
As the beginning of Mars’ journey in Aries will join up with expansive Jupiter, expect a sharp crescendo in Mars themes, and events kickstarted by the influence of the red planet in its home. We have already seen this play out in the Uvalde, Texas school massacre. We can expect this to continue in the war in Ukraine as well, and I suspect escalate. Be ready for anything.
Given current economic conditions, I would speculate some wild gambles in the stock and cryptocurrency markets will take place for the rest of the first week of Mars in Aries, while it’s still conjunct Jupiter (the planet of luck and optimism, as well as expansion). Whether those gambles pay off? Given the semisquare of Mars/Jupiter to Uranus in Taurus around this time? I wouldn’t count on it until the semisquare breaks after Memorial Day weekend. Mars and Jupiter will continue to conjunct until the first weekend of June as well.
June’s Events
In the second week of June, Mars semisquares the North Node, Saturn retrograde (another “fun” shift), and Mercury (now out of retrograde by this point). We could feel stuck, like we missed some opportunities if we didn’t get our crap together. Get the wheels in motion ASAP, and be ready to put up a fight to get things done and over with.
By mid-June, Mars conjunct Chiron will most certainly make itself felt strongly. Old wounds reoopen, and we may be forced to heal fast but imperfectly to get through this short stretch.
A T-Square apexing Jupiter in Aries from Black Moon Lilith and the Moon on June 15th will only amplify this. A serious potential for major violence or other earth-shaking event (hopefully not literally) will be high that week while Mars and Chiron unite. Be on high alert.
Late June into July
By the end of June, we have a partial smoothing-over of lessons learned from Mars’ trip through Aries with its sextile to Saturn retrograde. At the same time, Mars squares Pluto retrograde, which itself is dangerously close to the retrograde hit of the U.S. Pluto Return (the “Second Impact”). Again, a potential for major unrest and violence, but perhaps tempered by some holding back via self-discipline.
Perhaps something circumvents more mayhem. It’s hard to say. There’s also some potential for self-harm, or brazen acts that disregard self-preservation, though I think the worst of scenarios may be avoidable around this time. At least until July 1st, when Mars apexes a T-Square between the Moon crossing from Cancer to Leo, and Pluto retrograde in Capricorn. A potential for accidents is likely then due to rushing.
To finish off Mars in Aries, Mars will also sextile Mercury in late Gemini, allowing for some better communications, and perhaps some messages finishing off particular matters that we’ve been waiting for.
It may not be the best of news all-around, however, as on the last day of Mars in Aries, Mars will semisquare Venus in Gemini before it crosses over itself into Taurus. Be aware of self-sabotage with money, love, collectibles, and other creative ventures. I’m also going to add cryptocurrency here, given the major bloodletting that just happened with the collapse of Celsius the week of June 15th.
Expect a lot of action with Mars in Aries, and a good deal of chaos. People will be asserting their will in many ways, both constructively and destructively.
