Another lunar cycle is upon us, and it’s fitting that it takes place in Scorpio. This one is going to act as a gateway into the next eclipse season, and so we should be expecting some major drama to take place. What’s hidden beneath the surface will unavoidably come to light, so let’s get ready.
This New Moon’s Basics
This New Moon takes place at 12 Sco 40’13” on November 4th, 2021 14:14:35 PDT (21: 14:35 UTC). This lunar cycle takes place in the sign of Scorpio, highlighting the darker themes of power, death, transformation, sex, and the deeper mysteries of the occult for some. The main aspect of Sun conjunct Moon is a time of new beginnings and fresh pastures. For this lunar cycle, we will be taking a walk on the dark side of things. It will be a time of contemplating how the themes of transformation, death, and rebirth come into play in our lives.
Other Aspects to the New Moon
Like the previous lunar cycle, there’s some intensity in what’s aspecting the New Moon itself. For starters, the New Moon is involved in a weak-but-still-there T-Square apexing Saturn in Aquarius, with the opposition to Uranus retrograde in Taurus.
The opposition to Uranus retrograde is very strong, so the core theme of upheaval, surprises (both pleasant and unpleasant), and matters regarding instability or changes in our finances and resources are going to be pretty important.
Both Uranus and the New Moon make that weak square to Saturn in Aquarius, pointing to some need for discipline and some expected (and unexpected) roadblocks in just being ourselves, forcing us to consider the conventional when we want to be unconventional.
How this manifests, well, a few things come to mind. The cryptocurrency markets are incredibly active right now, with Bitcoin and Ethereum at or near record highs as I write this. There’s also Dogecoin which is holding steady (for now, anyways), and the surprising upstart Shiba Inu. A good many are expecting that to take off, yet… this aspect… I’d urge caution. Same would go for the stock market, in my view.
Disclaimer: I have invested a small amount in both Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, and am currently planning on holding for the long term.
Another thing to consider is the New Moon quincunx to Black Moon Lilith in Gemini. There’s some contention here when it comes to women’s issues (such as the abortion debate that looks inevitably headed for the Supreme Court).
I’m not sure, but there’s a cult element here too with this quincunx. One example is the gathering of QAnon adherents recently in Dallas, expecting an absolute impossibility. The Washington Post has more on this recent gathering if you really want to see the latest example of what cult worship looks like. It’s not just occult matters that can lead people astray, which is the point here.
Other Noteworthy Aspects During the New Moon
Mercury in late Libra sextile Venus at the tail end of Sagittarius is a pleasant aspect that points to some completions happening with relationships, partnerships, and the more optimistic nature of things. We can expect some messages, talks, and other ways of finishing up some chapters in our relations in some good ways.
That said, Mercury square Pluto in Capricorn could add a bittersweet feel to this, as there is the potential for some emails, letters, or calls regarding the upcoming or in-progress ends to things now. Given the Libra and Capricorn mix, this could be word of impending job separations, or perhaps telling a partner or potential partner that it’s not going to work out when it comes to career or general reputation. That said, this could also be an ultimatum where we need to find a balance between our partners/potentials and our professional or public lives.
This is further evidenced with Mars in Scorpio squaring off against Saturn. Mars is in one of its rulership signs, and thus is much more empowered, and Mars square Saturn can be a stern and dominating mix. Debts and margin calls can rear their ugly heads now. There’s also the potential for unwanted interruptions in our day-to-day lives via regulations, penalties, or some other bureaucratic mix-up. This isn’t a fun aspect.
Mars quincunx the North Node in early Gemini is another strange aspect we’re dealing with for this lunar cycle. There’s some power dynamics and some deeper desire to jump right into some lustful encounters, yet there’s this uncertainty as to how we’re coming across to other suitors right now. There could also have been something dark or deep beneath the surface that’s getting in the way of having some fun. We may even be feeling some deeper doubts as to whether we’re on the right path. As this also portends Mars semisextile South Node in Sagittarius, something hidden in our past is boiling to the surface now to disrupt things.
Saturn sextile Chiron retrograde in Aries is also something that will be prominent for the next few weeks. Chiron is the wounded healer, where we hurt and also where we recover. We’ve taken some poundings to the egos and faced setbacks to our plans in recent months, hell, even years. Saturn in a softer approach to this, however, does allow for some self-discipline to pick up the pieces and put things back together in a better way. We may need to retreat and regroup, but this could be the reorganization we need to attain victory in whatever we’re doing to lift ourselves up. Given the Aquarian vibe here, we may need to leverage the Internet or technology in some way to help make this happen.
Neptune retrograde in Pisces making a weak sextile to Pluto also stands out. Neptune is dreamy, illusory, and reserved in Pisces, and even more so when retrograde. This sextile to Pluto allows us to tap into our unconscious and subconscious desires and insights so we can figure out just what needs to go so we can build back better.
What Do the Cards Say?
The cards for this lunar cycle came up rather interesting… Starting off with Three of Pentacles reversed, we see that all eyes are on us, but we’re feeling a bit uneasy. Stage fright of some kind, perhaps, or perhaps we don’t feel that we’re performing the way we want to be performing.
Another card that came up was the Six of Pentacles upright. This signifies giving aid, giving alms, helping out someone in need. Charity comes to mind as well. It could be, combined with the reversed Three of Pentacles, that we need to help someone up who’s stumbling in their performance, or reassure them that they’re doing alright.
Another card that was drawn was the Five of Cups upright. Basically, we’ve got a spill going on, which corresponds to the Three of Pentacles reversed in some way, but we’ve still got something left over. Those leftovers and what’s left could be the help we’re getting from the influence of the Six of Pentacles.
Of course, we’ve also got as the last card drawn the Queen of Cups reversed. We need to look at things in perspective here. This can represent a woman who’s unhappy with her lot in life, perhaps she just went through a trying time and is a bit more bitter for the experience. Or, if not a woman involved, we could have been feeling neglected and unnurtured lately. This lack of nurturing and emotional unavailability is going to come up during this lunar cycle.
Overall, I’d say this is congruent with the astrology. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, and don’t be so down and stuck in the mud that you can’t see what you have that hasn’t taken a tumble.
To Sum it All Up
In the grand scheme of things, this lunar cycle is going to be a baptism by fire, so to speak, and that fire will be nitpicking frustrations and other delays that serve to upend us. That said, there’s still a lot of good that can come out of the next month or so. It’ll be a matter of recognizing what we can do to get around the blockages that will come up, and where do we go from here.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. We’re all in this crazy ride together, after all. Dwelling on disappointments won’t get you past the hurdles that are coming up, and there’s going to be some crazy ones once the eclipses start coming in a couple weeks. Best be prepared.
