Eclipse Season is finally behind us, though we’re still reeling from the effects. Our focus now shifts to more practical matters.
This New Moon in Virgo

This New Moon takes place in Virgo, sixth sign of the zodiac. Our focus goes more to the practical matters of day-to-day obligations, health, routines, day jobs, and analytical tasks. As this is in the second decan of Virgo, a Capricornian, Saturn-like effect colors this. Discipline, restructuring routines, and business and career matters will be themes we deal with for the next few weeks.
Sun conjunct Moon remains the usual theme of this and all New Moons. It’s a time of new beginnings and starting anew. Summer fun is ending, particularly with Libra season around the corner. It’s time to get back into the swing of things. No surprise that Virgo season coincides with the start of the school year here in the United States and other places.
Other Interactions with the New Moon in Virgo
New Moon Virgo sextile Mars in Cancer gives a little bit of a helpful energy boost in cleaning up our inner space and helping raise some energy to deal with our private matters.
Mars in Cancer brings a boost to the homestead and family lives in general, and can also be a bit of a “be fruitful and multiply” factor in some natal charts, if you catch my drift. The New Moon sextile this can indicate a slightly easier time of conception if that’s what you’re aiming for, but this is not guaranteed. This could also be a starting point for a new home improvement project or rearranging your own workspace at home.
Asteroids 1181 Lilith, 4580 Child, and 1981 Midas join Mars in the sextile to the Moon, thus adding a little bit of “fun” to some of the more private activities this lunar cycle. 433 Eros in Scorpio sextile New Moon Virgo also adds to this, thus we have Eros trine Mars/1181 Lilith/Child/Midas. Scorpio’s a sign associated with the more shadow side of things, including occult (perfect for Halloween/Samhain season coming up), and some lustful and erotic themes. If a couple are looking to expand their family, this could be a time that works out.
However, given the state of the world, make sure you’re ready for this. And this could be a theme that happens whether you’re ready or not (assuming you’re getting any action. If not, then perhaps you can escape unwanted action a little easier).
New Moon Virgo quincunx Pallas Rx (retrograde) in Aries does add an awkward vibe to things, however. We are certainly finding some people are throwing caution to the wind and not acting very wisely. Another potential is that we don’t know what a wise action may be right now. Plan what you can, and have contingency plans ready. And don’t let your own frustrations get in the way.
Other Aspects and Movements in the Sky During the New Moon
Shaky Ground
Uranus in Gemini just turned retrograde before this New Moon, destabilizing things a bit and changing things up.
Uranus in Gemini is associated with some turning points in world history, and especially here in the U.S. given that Uranus in Gemini is in the United States Sibley chart, and also showed up here during the American Civil War, and also after our entry into World War II. So basically at a time of major wars (not counting World War I). And here we are again.
It’s not all doom and gloom though, and we may have a chance of turning this one towards a better outcome this time.
Neptune Rx in Aries does apex a Minor Grand Trine between its sextile to Uranus Rx in Gemini, and also a sextile to Pluto Rx in Aquarius. This does allow for some introspection and perhaps a drawback of some of the more bombastic ideologies that are going on out there. This can also come across in my view as hubris being revealed. But this could also allow such ill players to quietly advance their ambitions, so be aware.
Uranus Rx in Gemini also forms an Air Grand Trine with Mercury, freshly entered into Libra, and Pluto Rx in Aquarius. There’s going to be a ton of communication and shakeups happening behind the scenes, so don’t expect things to stay quiet for too long. 10961 Buysballot Rx also opposes Mercury in this Grand Trine, so there’s a chance we can maybe find out about some plots to alter contracts and elections before they happen. Or, perhaps these schemes blow up in the background somehow.
It’s also a possibility that these schemes will successfully cook in the background and upend some serious contests that are going to affect the world in some major ways. There is a ton of anxiety about the U.S. Midterm Elections in November, and AfD in Germany just pulled off an almost-decisive victory in one or two German states that I’m aware of, and that’s telling me that the rightward lunge towards fascism is not going to go quietly into the night.
Remain vigilant would be the message, and don’t assume that those who would seek domination via democratic institutions and processes being compromised will fail. That is the dark side of the Grand Trine: idleness, laziness, and not doing enough to get the desired result. Get off your ass and move.
Trouble in Paradise
Mars in Cancer square Pallas Rx in Aries also plays into this. We could be failing to listen to some of the more common sense ideas we need to execute on in our home lives and in our homelands or adopted countries. (Yes, adoptions count in terms of family and home matters for Cancer and fourth-house concerns in my view). Be ready to defend your homes and be careful who you let into your bed, so to speak.
Venus, now at 0 degrees Scorpio, and in its pre-retrograde shadow, also opposes Chiron Rx in 0 degrees Taurus. Venus isn’t as strong here in Scorpio’s domain, and with this opposition to the wounded healer turned inwards, we’re asking ourselves some serious questions as to what we value, and can we hold onto it? And what’s that mean for us and our own identity? Chiron will soon reenter Aries for the last time in this cycle, so we’ll have one final review period coming up. Expect that crossover to happen during this lunar cycle.
Pluto Rx square Venus also plays into this and throws some of our notions of value, beauty, relationships, and property into question. Also consider that Aquarius is associated with tech, so the news coming out now about AI and the concerns of it potentially being as dangerous as nuclear weapons to humanity is not lost on me. The opposition to surveillance (Flock cameras, etc.) and data centers being put while we’re in the middle of an increasing water scarcity crisis is going to rise.
I don’t think the people pushing for these technologies are going to stop, and the pushback by the people and some local governments now (and given Florida’s state highway directive by Governor DeSantis (one of the rare times I’ll agree with him on anything), state level opposition), I think there’s going to be considerably more turmoil in the future here stateside. Other places around the world will follow suit if they aren’t already ahead (like Ukraine retaliating against Russia and striking with drones deep in Russian territory).
I think we’ll see more advances in drone tech this lunar cycle in some way. Probably militarized in other ways. But this is like saying “water is wet” these days, so this isn’t really an astrology prediction here.
Nose to the Grindstone
Finally, Saturn Rx in Aries trine Jupiter in Leo can help boost our discipline and get-to-it levels a bit. Jupiter is the optimist and Saturn is the disciplinarian. So we can find ourselves a bit harder on ourselves this lunar cycle, but we still have some hope and dreams about maybe some fun times and maybe some creativity coming forth and making things a bit better.
Let’s hope. Jupiter also expands things, and in Leo I think we’ll find some egos get inflated too. But Saturn retrograde in Aries may bring some things back to earth, so to speak.
Jupiter in Leo square 5180 Ohno, 15845 Bambi, 13897 Vesuvius, and 433 Eros in Scorpio could pl ay into our fears a bit and indicate us thinking we’re not doing enough to overcome the chaos and shadows in our lives, for ourselves and others. But keep moving forward. You’re breathing? You’re doing alright. Try not to lose hope and the worst may not happen. Just don’t sit idle in fear and let things blow up around you.

This New Moon is proving to be a time where we retreat, regroup, and review our strategies.
We can’t lose hope, but just hope and nothing else is a pretty poor strategy. We need to think, analyze, and see what we need to rework and remove so we can rebuild way better.
We also need to be cognizant of the fears and the doubts circling so we can get past the craziness and group together for some better outcomes than the totalitarian and authoritarian garbage being sent this way.
We work our strategies this lunar cycle so we can fight the bad future and get to a better future.
