This will have to be a short one. With the intensity of the recent Mars retrograde beginning, and Jupiter now going direct, I have found my own personal and professional life accelerating in crazy ways as well. This will be shorter than most of my articles.
This New Moon’s Basics
This New Moon takes place at 25 Vir 00’39” on September 17th, 2020 04:00:11 (AM) PDT (11:00:11 (AM) UTC). This lunar cycle points to our obligations, our health, our day-to-day concerns including jobs. As this New Moon involves Sun conjunct Moon, this is indicative of new beginnings, new projects, new ventures. As Virgo is ruled by Mercury, attention to detail and communications of such are also exemplified right now.
What’s Aspecting the New Moon
There’s a few interesting aspects to consider right now, one quite major in my view.
New Moon Virgo Square North Node Gemini and South Node Sagittarius
As this New Moon is square the nodes, this makes up a T-Square where we are facing our destiny, considering where we’ve come from and where we must go. We must make a choice during this lunar cycle: Will we cling to the past and try to hold on to what’s familiar, consequences be damned, or do we embrace the future and our greater destiny, our higher callings? We will be challenged to hold true to our beliefs and perhaps called to explain why we have the stances we do. Be vigilant, and be ready to defend your truth.
New Moon Virgo Opposite Neptune in Pisces (Wide Orb)
As Neptune is at a very wide orb, I’ve elected not to consider it as part of a T-Square or Grand Cross to the Nodes for the purposes of this article. It’s a very subtle influence, where we are facing off with our duties and obligations this cycle, and yet there’s this subtle yearning for more knowledge, more intuition. There’s also a chance of facing our demons when it comes to addictions, but with this being a separating opposition, such addictions can be fought successfully now. You may be conflicted with particular dream visions now. Don’t let these get you down, but examine and learn from them if they’re somewhat disturbing. There are bound to be key messages and clues as to what we must do now. Our intuition may also be at odds with what we believe we “know” to be true in the physical realm. This may be a time you need to let go and trust that instinct.
New Moon Virgo Trine Saturn Retrograde and Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn
This lunar cycle does bring the possibility of some positivity when it comes to making some fresh starts and clearing away that which no longer is serving us or serving those we love. Saturn and Pluto together denotes the demolition of structures and safety nets, but perhaps these safety nets weren’t very safe to begin with. The old lives were no longer serving many of us well, and those of us who have survived, and are still surviving in some way, we can take hold of what we need to let go of and cast it away so we can let new growth come into our lives. An excellent time to make some progress on a new work or project.
New Moon Virgo Quincunx Black Moon Lilith in Aries (Lilith Conjunct Mars)
This is where it gets a bit tricky. Black Moon Lilith and Mars together denote the harsh underside of reality and of secrets and shadows coming to the surface now, some quite forcefully such as scandals. The New Moon in Virgo is slightly out of range of being quincunx Mars itself, but with the link to Lilith, it’s still subtly there. A quincunx is an awkward, off-kilter aspect, so we know that there’s hidden shadows beneath the surface now, and we need to navigate this carefully. Have you been ignoring or brushing off your intuition, thinking that you’re just jumping to conclusions? You have to trust yourself, but do make sure you’re acting with integrity and with your best interests at heart. Also consider what you’ve done in the past, as it may be coming back to haunt you now in some way. Even if you got away with something, it’s still in the back of your mind.
Other Aspects during the New Moon
There are quite a few other aspects we should consider at this point with this New Moon in power.
Mercury in Libra Square Jupiter in Capricorn
Mercury being in the sign of relationships and partnerships brings on an air of flighty communications, and with the square to Jupiter (already not happy to be in Capricorn), and with Jupiter being weakly near fixed star Vega, there’s a slim chance of some dissolution of these partnerships right now. Perhaps you’ve spoken harshly to a loved one now, or perhaps you drunk-texted someone or a few someones you shouldn’t have, whether seeking help or not. There’s some interesting fallout we’re dealing with here, and some key philosophical differences are also going to come up now too. Relationships will need to be strong to endure this cycle.
Venus in Leo Square Uranus Retrograde in Taurus
This is another contentious aspect we will need to deal with right now. Venus is in the sign of the lion, and we’re undoubtedly thinking of good times, of fun, relationships, other fun encounters (ahem)… but right now, the unstable environment we’re finding ourselves in are throwing all sorts of monkey wrenches into this idea. Uranus is a rebel and doesn’t do quite as well in the stable sign of Taurus, and with Uranus being retrograde right now, we’re probably finding new ways to add drama and difficulty to some of these pursuits of fun and adventure. The pandemic isn’t helping this either, believe me, and if you’re on the West Coast of the U.S. like me, you’ve probably found even more turmoil with either the wildfires (of which there are none nearby me at this time) or the smoke being generated from said wildfires (which has been quite unhealthy and negating quite a few outdoor recreational activities and exercise for many of us now). Not a cycle in which we’ll be able to go full-tilt into getting ahead with the fun stuff now.
Mars Retrograde in Aries Square Saturn Retrograde and Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn
This is not a fun combination, and thankfully these are not at their tightest positions either. Mars square Saturn normally can be quite oppressive and toxic, and Mars square Pluto can be quite violent and fraught with upheavals. The good news is, Mars and Pluto’s square are practically at the outer edge of the square for just those two bodies, so the effects aren’t as strong as they could be. But still, this is an explosive time. Saturn square Mars right now is much stronger, and we can expect more restrictions and conflict now. Don’t go looking for trouble right now, because you are all but guaranteed to find it if you do. Political violence is likely with this combination, so rethink going to any protests or demonstrations right now. It’s not safe to do so and may be an unnecessary risk. Find other avenues of combating injustice at this time.
Jupiter in Capricorn Sextile Neptune Retrograde in Pisces
Right now, faith in a higher power to get us through these trying times is quite tempting, and probably something that’s been considered by even some of the more disregarding of faith in religions right now. Seeking some sort of higher learning or education could be beneficial right now, though do be wise about it with the pandemic still out there.
Skipping Asteroids For Now
If I can get back to this and examine what asteroid aspects are to this New Moon, I’ll do it. Right now, I just don’t have the time.
To Sum it All Up
Just with the square to the Nodes alone, this New Moon is an indicator that we need to make a choice. We can do the hard work to shore up our lives right now and make some much needed improvements, or we can continue retreating into a realm that no longer works for us. Make the right choice and consider your future. Pick the future where you’re better off.
That’s about all I have time for tonight. Peace.
