New Moon Scorpio – November 2020 – Stall

New Moon Scorpio

This New Moon’s already come and gone by the time I write anything on this, but may as well as see the themes for this lunar cycle anyways. I dropped the ball on the timing for this one: Somehow thought this New Moon was a day later than it actually was. Lot’s happening on my end, such as my day job coming to an end much sooner than expected. Anyways, time for the quick lowdown.

This New Moon’s Basics

This New Moon takes place at 23 Sco 17’31” on November 14th, 2020 21:07:10 (9:07:10 PM) PDT (November 15th, 2020 05:07:10 (AM) UTC). This lunar cycle relates to our more darker impulses, what we keep hidden, and matters regarding sex, death, the taboo, and other people’s resources. As always, this New Moon involves Sun conjunct Moon, symbolizing new beginnings, fresh starts, and the commencement of themes for the next few weeks. Given that Scorpio is ruled by both Mars (traditional) and Pluto (more modern), we’re looking at taking charge, our energy, our drive, but also the innermost secrets and desires that drive us as well. What we tear down and renew, really.

What’s Aspecting the New Moon

Direct aspects to the New Moon by major bodies is surprisingly… softer, at least for this cycle. Perhaps a calm before the storm.

New Moon Scorpio Sextile Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn in Capricorn

Ok, this is a major sextile. Jupiter and Pluto tightly together in Capricorn is indicative of the tearing down and restructuring of political and governmental institutions, and Saturn combined with the two indicates restrictions, challenges, and new rules coming forth. The New Moon sextile this represents a new period of restrictions, changes, and reorganizations, and given that Jupiter and Pluto just had their third and final conjunction for this cycle, the aftermath of the changes will soon be upon us. With this sextile, these shifts are going to probably do us more good in the long run, even though the initial period may suck a bit.

As an example: In Washington state where I’m at, it sounds like we’re heading into another lockdown or near lockdown regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, so this aspect fits. With any luck, this will be the last non-essential closure order we see.

This aspect definitely is indicative of some major inner shadow work we need to do for ourselves. Something hasn’t been clicking for awhile, and this is a good time as any to look inward and do some deep mediation and spiritual work to get through this period. If you haven’t been taking time to do some essential self-care, especially in terms of meditation, reflection, and introspection, I’d advise you do so now. Insights gleaned from such work this lunar cycle will be of great benefit. Something I haven’t been taking the time to do for myself lately, and something I need to do now more than ever.

Our long-term partnerships and relations with colleagues are going to be something we need to pay attention to this lunar cycle. Semisextiles are what I call “triggering aspects,” so themes regarding money, jobs, and our innermost feelings and deeper work regarding these will be at the forefront for the next few weeks. As more areas are resuming tighter restrictions, we’re understandably going to be concerned about debts, paying bills, and how much more of a mental strain we can take with the negativity of the pandemic still ongoing.

Fortunately, Venus is just barely in range of Spica at the time of the New Moon, so the lunar cycle will have a minor coloring of that influence. Friendships should be beneficial right now (even if you have to keep a distance), and there’s a chance of making some sort of waves, probably in the social media and blogging space. Expect more livestreaming from musicians as well while concert halls and venues are closed, as an example of this.

Other Aspects during the New Moon

These aspects will be coloring the vibes of the lunar cycle. There’s a few we should mention.

Mercury in Scorpio Quincunx Chiron Retrograde in Aries

There’s probably some things we want to say that we’ve been holding close to our chest for awhile, and now that the elections have been held here in the U.S., there’s quite a bit still to be said, but some are going to want to hold back for now. Honestly, those results haven’t been certified yet and are still projections at this point, and we are still in the Mercury post-retrograde shadow period, so those finalization of the results would still be coming.

The election is but one example of what this aspect can bring: a desire to speak out, a desire to express some closure of some kind, whether it brings catharsis or just us speaking our peace before peacing out. There’s also a potential for some kind of self-harm that could come in defiance of what we are facing, so do be sure to tame your demons before they tame you.

Mercury’s no longer retrograde, but again, we’re still in the post-retrograde shadow, so technology, travel, and messages aren’t all there quite yet. This is a time where more secrets will be coming out into the open, and there’s going to be some deceptions and slight of hand going on as well. Some people will find that their stability is being shaken up again, whether from their own actions or from a hidden influence (such as the risk of contagion that’s still ongoing). It’s possible we see more inroads into a vaccine or some other protective measure, but it will come at the cost of shaking up our stability. Listen to your gut feelings closely now, especially where money and resources are concerned.

Venus in Libra Square Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn in Capricorn

Now this is where things get a bit intense. Jupiter and Pluto tightly together are still doing their thing to shake up and collapse structures that no longer are viable, and Saturn in the mix is also telling me that more restrictions and tightening of belts are on the way. Venus, a planet associated with jobs, money, and relationships, it’s squaring this conjunction. This lunar cycle is going to be the harbinger of some tight times for many of us. “Long dark winter” indeed. Make sure you’re stocked up on provisions and do what you can to shore those up if you haven’t already. For some of us, the window of opportunity for some final preparations may have already come and gone.

Venus in Libra Trine North Node in Gemini

This is a silver lining to the clouds that are gathering now. Even if we’re forced to hunker down and stay put for awhile, there’s still an opportunity to advance somehow into a better life for ourselves. Perhaps a new bodyweight exercise routine to get through the boredom, or perhaps taking up some creative therapy in the form of writing, poetry, painting, or higher-tech equivalents of these. Even sitting still and reflecting on what you already have can be beneficial right now.

We’re still in a phase of mental and spiritual introspection, and our mental thoughts and imagery is forced to bridge the gap between past and future. We’re contemplating what’s been holding us back and where we’ve been retreating to to feel comfortable, and also are faced with the possibilities of what could be. Sit back, sit silently for a moment, and perhaps take stock in what will move us forward into a better life. Are there mental blocks holding you back from being your best self? Some deep meditative work may be in order this lunar cycle.

Skipping Asteroids (Again)

I don’t have time, and this New Moon already happened as I write this. Soon, I get back to enhanced analysis. I hope.

To Sum it All Up

This lunar cycle is essentially a calm before the storm. We’re heading into Eclipse Season again, starting with the next Full Moon, and the sextiles/trines the New Moon made here are going to help us take things in stride as we prepare to deal with the massive energy shift that’s already beginning to take shape.

Take care of your own needs and the rest should be able to fall into place a little better… or at the very least, you’ll be able to help nudge them in when the time is right. Making major leaps forward isn’t in the cards right now, but we can prepare for the right time to move forward. For now, rest and recover as much as you can, and take care of yourself.
