Solar Eclipse Aries – March 2025

Solar Eclipse Aries 2025

Content warning: reference to S.A.

Been awhile since I’ve actually been able to write an article, and what a time we’ve been in for all of March 2025. Mercury retrograde, Venus retrograde, these Eclipses, and of course we’re coming up on the Neptune ingress into Aries, first time since 1861.

Everything’s changing. Stagnation is death. Time to evolve with the changes.

The Solar Eclipse Itself

The Solar Eclipse goes exact at 9 Ari 00’05” on March 29th, 2025 at 3:57 AM PDT / 10:57 AM UTC. Again, it’s a North Node eclipse (despite North Node now being in mysterious Pisces), and it is in Aries, first sign of the zodiac, and in the first decan to boot. Emphasis on emboldening and pursuing our own desires, core identities, and who we are is the main focus for the next several months.

As opposed to a Lunar Eclipse which represents endings and finality, the Solar Eclipse is a supercharged New Moon that symbolizes new beginnings, fresh starts, and rebirth. Out of the old, comes the new.

Sun conjunct Moon is the hallmark aspect of any New Moon, and greatly so for a Solar Eclipse as well. This is full-on Mars energy with this eclipse. And Mars is not playing nice right now as we’ll get into later. Passion, drive, and intensity are hallmarks of this time period. Do not expect a boring time.

Those with placements in their natal charts from 4 to 14 degrees in cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) will feel things much more with this eclipse. Personal planets (Sun/Moon/Mercury/Venus Mars) and personal points (Ascendant/Descendant, Midheaven/IC, North Node/South Node) will be more of an impact with hard aspects (conjunction, opposition, square in particular).

Anyone with the Vertex/Antivertex from about 7-11 degrees in Aries/Cancer/Libra/Capricorn, as well as progressed or solar arc placements at those degrees, will also feel this acutely. Some astrologers would only use a 1 degree orb for that, but in my experience, there’s more of a range of effect.

Also note that the Solar Eclipse this time around is around the same point that both Mercury and Venus stationed retrograde. Relationship and communications dynamics will be heavily played into over the next several months.

Other Aspects to the Solar Eclipse

Who Can You Trust?

Solar Eclipse Aries square Ixion and 896 Sphinx in Capricorn poses a good question: Who in your sphere is trustworthy?

Ixion in Capricorn strikes me as a bit of betrayer and violator of guest right in the sign of institutions and business. Can we really trust the government right now? (When can we ever?)

Sphinx poses riddles, and in this case, it leads to a byzantine labyrinth of bureaucracy. Higher institutions are being shaken up even now, as we can see in the news.

Expect erosion and backstabbing in alliances, along with some really contentious “diplomacy.”

Also, this is a hell of an aspect to have during tax season (at least here in the U.S.).

Staving Off the Worst

Solar Eclipse Aries sextile 5180 Ohno and 9951 Tyrannosaurus in Gemini does offer some respite.

Ohno is just what it sounds like, “oh no!” In Gemini, I’d say this would lead to some bad news, but in a sextile to the Solar Eclipse, and with Tyrannosaurus here (aptly named), this could be the beginning phase of bad news for some abusers of power.

So perhaps things work out for the best in the end, after the pain and red tape.

A Special Mention…

Neptune Ingress Into Aries

The day after the Solar Eclipse in Aries, Neptune enters Aries, and is also conjunct Mercury retrograde (at 0 Aries during the Eclipse, but crosses into 29 Pisces before Neptune crosses over itself).

This is a tricky time we’re in. The last time Neptune entered Aries at its first crossing for that cycle was right as the Civil War in the United States was starting in March 1861. Like, first shots at Fort Sumter next day kind of entry. So far, we do not seem to be in a “hot” civil war at the moment. Let’s hope it stays that way.

Neptune’s energies will take on a more assertive, direct tone, and the dreamworld some of us have been in is already evaporating for many. And if that’s not enough, Saturn will join up with Neptune in Aries within the next few months. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Other Noteworthy Aspects During the Solar Eclipse

What, Or Who, Do You Want?

Mercury retrograde at 0 Aries trine Juno retrograde and 1488 Aura retrograde in Sagittarius is a tricky one. Mercury is the planet of travel and communication, and it’s retrograde so wires can get crossed a lot more than usual. And, it’ll cross over into Pisces and take on a more dreamlike, fantastical feel that isn’t rooted in reality (particularly as Pisces is a sign of Mercury’s detriment).

Juno, an asteroid of commitment and marriages, is also in reverse, which is forcing us to rethink some of our bonds and links. Aura with this adds to the uncertainty in some partnerships, I would say.

Some partnerships that are not based in reality will fade away, or perhaps implode. Others could potentially form now, and if things are well, they could potentially last a while. It depends on how each partner handles the energies for this though.

Consider that Mercury also conjuncts Venus retrograde in Pisces. Again, this is not ideal for stable partnerships at the moment. There could be a higher amount of rebounds and uncertain relationship statuses going on now, like “situationships”.

Be clear on what you want in a partner, or who you want as a partner. Some rebounds can lead to lasting happiness, but it all depends. Even the most beneficial charts to Mercury and Venus retrogrades right now could still suffer drama.

L:astly, Mercury retrograde and Venus retrogrades with fixed star Scheat suggests heavy caution. Accidents, drownings, overdoses, these are all likely. I would even say staged events and S.A. are somewhat more likely to occur if things are badly aspected. Be watchful.

Pain

Mars in Cancer square Chiron and 99942 Apophis in Aries is not fun.

Mars in Cancer is already a little contentious, especially as its still in its post-retrograde shadow period for a while yet. Mars is energy, drive, and in Cancer, it can also lead to more themes of pregnancies (as well as the end of pregnancies however it occurs. Sometimes it’s not meant to be).

Chiron in Aries is forcing us to confront serious wounds to our own selves, our egos, our own identities. Apophis (destruction) amplifies this further, and makes this an even more painful time that we would really like.

This square frankly sucks. Especially with these signs involved. Again, I’m getting the sense of themes of S.A. and abusive partners. This is a dangerous time for those in violent, abusive relationships. And this is the third and final square this combination makes (which means, since October 2024, there’s been two other “hits” of the Mars-Chiron square, and it has not been a fun ride).

Break Free

Mars in Cancer trine Saturn in Pisces does help things out a bit.

Saturn is roadblocks, blockages, but also discipline and hard work. If we’ve been daydreaming too much or finding it hard to focus, this trine should help us regain a small amount of mental footing and get things back on track.

Mars in Cancer sextile Uranus in Taurus, itself on fixed star Algol is shaking things up in terms of resources and possessions. Perhaps a bit of softening in the real estate markets could occur soon.

Mars conjunct fixed star Pollux suggests a period of danger for those in high positions of power. We’re already seeing discontent and vandalism, as well as outright terrorism with the firebombing of Tesla dealerships in multiple countries (as well as the harassment of individual Tesla owners, which is not OK).

In some ways, all of this together could help us break through some nasty ruts, but there’s also the potential for causing or being collateral damage. Be watchful.

Splash of Cold Reality

Saturn in Pisces makes a weak conjunction to Venus retrograde and Neptune during this Eclipse. So while we’re reevaluating relationships and our possessions right now and how that fits in our headspace, we’ve got some serious reality checks we have to consider here.

The more hopeful aspects of what we desire are hitting a hard wall. We’re going to be facing some reality checks while we’re under the influence of this Solar Eclipse for the next several months. Temper expectations.

Watch for Bribery

Juno retrograde in Sagittarius opposite 157 Dejanira, 4955 Gold, 19 Fortuna, and Sedna in Gemini warns us to be watchful of those that would buy our love and are making offers that sound too good to be true.

Juno retrograde square 10961 Buysballot retrograde in Virgo further drives this point home.

Be aware of who you’re dealing with now in the realm of relationships and business partnerships.

Juno retrograde sextile Pluto in Aquarius does help things out a bit. Figuring out which partnerships don’t really benefit us can be eliminated a little easier now, perhaps also with the aid of some newer tech (AI rejection services? Do those exist? Someone should make one, even if just a joke).

In Closing

Cutting this one a little short, as the Eclipse is forming right now and I have sleep to get to right now. Hoped to get a morning gym session in before the weekend got underway, but I need to remind myself that proper sleep is also important.

Be careful now with new endeavors. While a Solar Eclipse represents a time of new beginnings, we still have Venus and Mercury both retrograde until at least April 7th for Mercury, and April 12th for Venus. Even then, the North Node being involved with these bodies plus Saturn will wreak havoc, especially for those experiencing a Nodal Return or Nodal Opposition (like me) right now.

Destinies are going to be a bit… fluid. Try to go with the flow, but also be your own protector of your own peace. And don’t disregard those who are truly in your corner.

But do watch for betrayers. Many shifts in alliances right now.
