The New Moon Itself
New Moon Libra hits peak intensity at 28 Lib 21’53” on October 21st, 2025 05:25 AM PDT / 12:25 PM UTC.
This New Moon near the very end of Libra is shining a focus on our relationships, partnerships, alliances, and overall more significant links to others. Being in the third decan, there’s a Gemini-like, mercurial feel to this New Moon, so pay special attention to what needs to be addressed and communicated.
Sun conjunct Moon indicates another cycle of new beginnings, getting new projects off the ground, and all that. Or does it, this time? The devil is in the details with that Mercury influence, which enters the pre-retrograde shadow phase just before the New Moon becomes exact.

Interesting Times
New Moon Libra squares Pluto in Aquarius, now direct. It’s an offsign square, so things are a little more airy than we would expect. What we can expect is rapid developments in affairs, technological disruptions (such as the AWS outage that hit the day before this New Moon), and overall reconsideration of relationships, whether ending one or testing the waters with a new one.
On the flip side, we have New Moon Libra square Jupiter in Cancer. So we’ve got some conflict when it comes to how home and private matters, as well as some matters of the heart, are going to go this next month or so. Jupiter loves to expand things, but this can border on the overoptimistic and overenthusiastic side.
New Moon Libra quincunx Neptune retrograde in very early Aries, about to cross over into Pisces, makes itself known too. We’re floundering and struggling with which direction to go with some matters now. And, combined with the New Moon square to Jupiter, we have a very real danger of only seeing what we want to see.
I suspect we will see much more echo chamber activity. Truth is what you make of it. And remember that pictures and video can not only lie, but with AI, it could take home an Oscar or two.
Let’s not forget New Moon Libra opposite 1981 Midas retrograde (Rx) and 11144 Radiocommunicata Rx in Aries. We’re in a time where someone can just make a post on social media, and the markets can tank almost immediately. Or rise greatly. But mostly, with the other aspects I’m seeing, some miscommunications or disinformation could bring the whole kit and kaboodle down.
New Moon Libra conjunct 11911 Angel suggests some kind of divine protection at hand during this lunar cycle, so perhaps the worst of the disruptions can be avoided. At the very least, it’s worth putting in a good word to God, Universe, or whoever is your supreme being of choice.
Other Notable Aspects During the New Moon
Mercury Pre-Shadow Games
Yes, you heard right: Another Mercury retrograde is coming in November, and Mercury just entered its pre-retrograde shadow phase right before this New Moon goes exact.
So while normally a time of new beginnings and ventures and projects… there’s going to be a little bit of uncertainty with how these will play out. By the next New Moon in Scorpio later in November, we’ll be experiencing the full retrograde effects. That’s a story for another time.
Peace… No Peace
This is the dick-kicker. Mercury conjunct Mars in Scorpio, also conjunct Black Moon Lilith, 128 Nemesis, and squaring 1181 Lilith and 6583 Destinn in Aquarius.
Yes, forceful words, retribution and enemies, and two Liliths squaring off bringing some major shadow-side drama into the full view of all.
Mars is amplified in Scorpio, being in one of its domiciles (other being Aries), and Mars rules passion, raw sexuality, energy, drive, anger, and rage issues.
Mercury is the communicator and also deals with messages, technology to a degree (think texts and phone calls), and routine travel.
We are likely to see some crazy accidents now, mainly road rage is my guess, but sudden events and wrecks stemming from long-neglected or overlooked maintenance issues are going to make national news. If we’re fortunate, it won’t be a major natural (or manmade) disaster.
However, given the explosive potential of this conjunction and square, you need to take measures that you don’t fall victim to violence. Especially crimes of passion.
Mars/Mercury conjunct asteroids 4464 Vulcano and 85047 Krakatau (think “volcano” and “Krakatoa”)… these amplify the explosive power and potential of this set of bodies. 37117 Narcissus conjunct Mars-Mercury also adds the explosive mix of ego and self-interest into this.
So there is a very high chance of someone wanting to have their way by force, and it blows up badly in everyone’s face. If you have natal aspects around 15-25 degrees in fixed signs (Scorpio/Aquarius/Taurus/Leo), there is a major potential for carnage and drama.
Expect violent encounters to spike for about a week after this New Moon is my thought. Stay frosty, be aware, be safe.
Fortunately, Mars-Mercury trine Nessus retrograde and North Node in PIsces may offer some relief.
We might be able to step back just long enough for tempers to cool, though deep-brewing resentment is also possible (think a jilted would-be lover losing out, and slowly getting more and more pissed off the more they think of it).
That does indicate North Node conjunct Nessus retrograde. Figure out what you’re obsessing over, and take some solid measures to address it. Some love interest pass you over? Have a fling with someone else or something. (Actually, given the other alignments and pre-retro shadow, you may not want to rely on this. Use protection if you do. Remember, hidden issues and all.)
Tipsy
Venus in Libra square Pholus in Capricorn cannot be overlooked.
Venus is love, romance, relationships, the lovey-dovey stuff. And also what we hold attractive, valuable, money, resources, possessions (as Venus also rules Taurus, which has to do with stability and money among other things).
Pholus is an asteroid named after a centaur who just happened to have some wine that made the other centaurs go nuts. It’s an inebriation asteroid in my view.
Drunken hookups could lead to trouble. Though Venus sextile 545 Messalina in Leo indicates a possibility of this being good trouble…
Yet Venus quincunx 433 Eros retrograde in Taurus can play a part in forcing some uncomfortable conversations and attempts at wooing others. The illusion could disappear rapidly when the bank account comes up with a minus sign.
Mayhem
Jupiter in Cancer square Chiron Rx, Eris Rx, and 151 Abundantia Rx in Aries is not a welcome sight.
Chiron is the wounded healer, of course, and in late Aries and retrograde, its focus is drawn more inward and could influence some to want to travel far and question their beliefs. Eris adds to the discord and chaos of this, but that chaos is more internal now too, more of a simmer than a boil.
Abundantia in reverse suggests contraction to me. Not as prevalent as if it were in Taurus, but still, there’s the thought of having to do without and of course, harming our ego and our sense of identity.
We could find ourselves feeling a little more deflated, particularly in private, and questioning where we went wrong.
Jupiter is also parking its optimistic ass on fixed star Pollux. That’s not a great combination either. Legal affairs could go sideways, and people in high positions or titles could find themselves in scandal.
Of course, I could also say “water is wet” with that last bit. Yes, expect scandals to explode in this next month. Just in time for the holidays (at least here in the U.S.)…
Expect those in power to double and triple down on selfish misadventures to a greater degree now.
However… there is a loose Water Grand Trine between Jupiter, Saturn retrograde in Pisces, and Black Moon Lilith in Scorpio. So think of some the more realistic daydreams you’ve had, and maybe, just maybe, you might have a workable solution to some general problems you’re having. But you’ll have to confront some pretty gnarly truths within yourself and apply some good discipline.
You have to confront reality now.
In Closing
Frankly, this is a majorly off-kilter New Moon and lunar cycle.
We could have had a Grand Cross add to the intensity, but the opposing bodies in places aren’t quite opposing one another. So there’s conflict, but there’s also some wiggle room in a sense.
Keep a lid on some of the more incendiary commentary you want to dish out, and try to stay out of the line of fire. This is not a time to be sticking your thing into a hornet’s nest. (Ok, no time is a good time to do that). But this time right now would be especially bad to do that.
Do not expect plans to work out right now, at least not without some serious rethinking of a few things along the line. You’re going to have to make revisions, and it could come up quite forcefully.
But the more workable tasks lined up? Those should go ok.
Don’t get careless, and be careful who you trust now. People are even less rational than normal right now.
And take nothing for granted this lunar cycle.
And finally, with that Mars-Mercury complex? Do not start fights.
