Well, I suppose the previous lunar cycle could have ended with more of a bang. But we’re in luck… some of the aspects then are still with us.

The New Moon Itself
New Moon Cancer hits peak intensity at 04 Can 07’45” on June 25th, 2025 at 3:31 AM PDT / 10:31 AM UTC.
As this New Moon is occurring in its home sign of Cancer, fourth sign of the zodiac, we’ll have this entire lunar cycle to consider our home lives and private affairs. Emotions will be heightened, and themes of nurturing (or lack thereof) will be prevalent.
Sun conjunct Moon remains the main aspect, as always. New beginnings, fresh starts, new projects, starting a new journey, and getting the ball rolling. Some people think June’s the best time for a wedding for a new marriage. Maybe some years, but I’d rethink that this year.
Other Aspects to the New Moon
Struggle to Launch
New Moon Cancer conjunct Jupiter and 4955 Gold would normally be a good setup for any New Moon, I would think. Jupiter is hope, optimism, expansion, and Gold has the sense of just that, glittering prizes and riches.
Trouble is, New Moon Cancer and Jupiter are also squaring Saturn and Neptune in Aries. This slows down the pace considerably, despite Jupiter’s exaltation in Cancer.
Saturn is discipline, hard work, and also roadblocks, restrictions, and contraction. Neptune is more illusory in nature, more mystic, more mental. Saturn and Neptune together here in fiery Aries has a crescendo effect of rhetoric, ideology, and forcing rules and restrictions for the sake of being difficult. Frankly, it’s not a fun setup.
The challenge here is to try to keep the faith in yourself and what you’re building behind the scenes this month while weathering the storms of war drums and further restrictions and roadblocks that serve to drive you to the point of insanity.
Death of the Old World Order
New Moon Cancer and Jupiter also sextile Mars in Virgo, and quincunx Pluto retrograde in Aquarius to form a Yod, or “Finger of God” complex.
First of all, the sextile to Mars in analytical Virgo can make things a little easier on the surface to get the mental gears turning and give you the energy needed to get through a few tasks. But they won’t be easy, and we’ll get to that.
The focal point of Pluto retrograde in Aquarius from the New Moon and Jupiter side in Cancer, and from the Mars side in Virgo, it’s a lot to take in. Pluto in Aquarius is already a harbinger of revolutionary changes and discontent with the status quo. Aquarius is also more technological-based than the other signs (given its dual rulership by Saturn and Uranus).
So we put the destroyer and renewer here, and in reverse motion to boot. So that becomes some serious self-immolation leading to public unrest, technology run amok (try looking for a job lately? Plenty of horror stories out there), and social media either glitching out or issuing blanket sanctions or bans on false allegations or malfunctioning AI tools.
…those are malfunctions, right? Or is the chaos by design?
Keep your data backed up, and be ready to enact contingency plans for anything important to you.
Beneath the Waves
New Moon Cancer trine Vesta in Scorpio does denote a time where we can more easily figure out what’s near and dear to us, and how willing we are to defend it to the death. Are you holding true to what you profess as your “die on the hill” point?
Another consideration: New Moon Cancer trine 1181 Lilith and 6583 Destinn in Pisces is another tricky but important point.
Lilith in this case is the asteroid of darker desires, deeper lust, and hidden sensuality. A bit more lustful, in my view, than the calculated point Black Moon Lilith, which is in Scorpio at the moment.
1181 Lilith with an asteroid named for “destiny”, we could be facing some fated choices now that will force us to confront the deeper, darker desires. For some, this lunar cycle will bring liberation to pursue what is most dear to us. For others, we may need to make a choice as to whether our passions and secret desires will tempt us to stray.
The Grand Trine here may make that temptation-fighting a little easier, but you’ll have to grab the reins to make sure you stay true to yourself and your ideals.
New Moon Cancer and Jupiter apexing a Yod from Pluto retrograde and from 4386 Lust retrograde in Sagittarius forces us to decide if pursuing our baser desires are worth the cost of any new beginnings that may yield more (with significant effort of course).
Other Notable Aspects During the New Moon
Speak Your Peace
Mercury in Cancer conjunct 26 Proserpina and 1930 Lucifer is pretty dark in itself.
Proserpina is another name for Persephone, in legend who had to spend part of the year in the underworld with Hades/Pluto. We’ll have to communicate some pretty strongly held concerns to those we care about, more than likely. And, there’s the danger of doing this from a position of excessive pride. Remember, pride before a fall.
There’s also Mercury square Chiron in Aries. Now, Chiron is the wounded healer. Can heal others, but not himself in legend. So there’s the potential of some very hurtful things being said to our loved ones out of a sense of heightened pride and ego, or damaged pride.
Mercury trine Saturn and Neptune could be useful for brainstorming, creating, and executing plans to better our position in private. Making to-do lists, project planning, and the like will go a little more smoothly with the right approach.
Follow Your Intuition
Venus in Taurus conjunct 16 Psyche and 1912 Anubis has a decidedly esoteric and spiritual touch to our notions of stability and cash flow. It would be worth listening to your gut if you’re uncertain of which way to go with an investment. On the other hand, make sure you’re not being led astray by overoptimism (given the New Moon and Jupiter’s hard aspects to Saturn/Neptune).
The opposition of Venus to 149 Medusa retrograde in Scorpio warns us to be aware of the potential for betrayal, particularly by those who we may share resources with and owe debts to. Watch for malicious changing of financial terms. Also be sure to be careful not to trigger any changes yourself, as the retrograde could bring a chance of self-betrayal.
Venus square 55 Pandora and 5264 Telephus in Leo is another danger point we should consider. Do make sure it’s your guides/higher self/divinity that you’re talking to, and not one of the more malicious beings that would come out of a box of horrors.
There’s also the issue of Venus trine 8813 Leviathan, 4464 Vulcano, 13897 VEsuvius, and 85047 Krakatau in Virgo. This alone seems to be a pretty explosive combination of asteroids, and in a mutable sign (earth-based but still).
Leviathan is a legendary aquatic beast found in biblical writings, and just think of a huge sea serpent if that doesn’t sound familiar. Vulcano, Vesuvius, Krakatau? They’re all volcanic. And they’re all explosive.
And they’re all together. But the trine from Venus does offer a chance to protect assets and investments, and shore up our own stability in a way if we heed the warning. Pay attention to any rumblings and act accordingly.
Venus does also apex a Minor Grand Trine between its sextile to Dejanira in Cancer and Nessus retrograde in Pisces. Dejanira is the victim’s asteroid, and in legend was actually a victim of… Nessus.
Nessus is busy self-abusing himself right now though, and Venus sextile this body helps us to recognize when we’re abusing ourselves, or can give us a chance to do better.
Venus also in its sextile to Dejanira shows a chance to recover from some damage and get some respite in some way.
Get a Handle on the Chaos
North Node Pisces does make the conjunction to Nessus retrograde and 9770 Discovery. So right now, we are being called to recognize and discover how we’ve been damaging and abusing ourselves, even (especially) subconsciously, and get our collective shit together and stop the damage.
Of course, this also puts South Node Virgo with Leviathan/Vulcano/Vesuvius/Krakatau, so we’re going to have to confront our own more explosive truths, and our more incendiary traits that we may be holding onto based on some seriously questionable logic.
And with 875 Nymphe squaring the Nodes from Gemini, we may be facing an opportunity or a test of some serious lust or other temptations in our local spheres this lunar cycle. You could have your summer fling, but make sure it doesn’t blow up in your face. Especially if this is with an ex or someone else from your past, hometown, etc.
Continuing Carnage
Mars in Virgo still squares Uranus at the last degree of Taurus, not quite in Gemini yet but getting there. This denotes more potential for more explosive events such as the bombing of Iran and Israel (and now United States involvement). Given Mars in Virgo, there’s some indication of calculated carnage.
No more wars? Not with these aspects. This isn’t going to calm down this lunar cycle, and is in fact going to escalate just based on this square alone.
Mars opposite Destinn is also not a good sign. The endgame and destiny of conflict right now is mercurial and nebulous. There’s some serious chess piece-moving going on, but the exit plan, if there is one, isn’t realistic.
Mars square Lust retrograde in Sagittarius is also not helping other matters, such as not falling victim for temptations and descending into very hopeful fantasies that may not go anywhere. But people will still plan and try. Maybe don’t try to get somewhere with your crush and maybe it happens on its own? Consider that you may not have planned this out effectively.
Ixion retrograde in Capricorn trine Mars does potentially allow us to sidestep some betrayals, or at least convinces us to not violate some rules and just direct our energies to more productive ends. There could be some incentives for certain parties that would betray some allies to not do so yet. Some alliances will stand not out of altruism, but calculation.
Be Ready for the Crap to Fly
Uranus at 29 Taurus conjuncts 564 Dudu in Taurus, and Sedna in Gemini. So we’re going to see some explosive diarrhea when it comes to the bullshit and propaganda that is about to swarm us (as if we didn’t have enough of this now).
Dudu is just what it sounds like. And there’s plenty of fertilizer. Maybe Uranus helps you discover something that glitters that isn’t just a polished turd. Crude, but the point is made.
Sedna and Uranus, I’d expect some more betrayal to be in the offing. And Sedna is slow. Uranus and Sedna together, I wouldn’t even be surprised if a surprise move to weaken NATO or some other major alliance wouldn’t be dropped on the world’s lap right now. On a more personal level generally, this lunar cycle will be part of many where the planet of rebellion and surprises, and the dwarf planet of betrayal by the masculine and patriarchy will be joining together.
Women, I’d say be ready to protect your rights at all costs. I think we’re about to see more adverse actions and rulings against matriarchal autonomy.
Uranus opposing 2031 BAM in Scorpio does also point to a simmering, smoldering fuse. There’s some stupidity being planned still, so we’re still in the early signs of some serious bullshit.
Uranus trine Pluto retrograde is one of these slower-moving trines that will be giving some of us an easier time of remaking things. Great aspect for minimalists and spring (or summer) cleaning, perhaps. Also great for catching up and eliminating paperwork (or perhaps digitizing more documents). But do remember to exercise some good disaster recovery planning. This trine may help with recovery efforts if needed.
In Closing
This New Moon in Cancer is the start of a lunar period where we should be able to make something happen, but all of these outer-planet and other harsh aspects are not going to make that easy in any sense of the word.
Backing off until the “perfect” moment is useless as we’re not going to have perfect moments for the next several years. And we have a lot of war placements, based on where Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune were when the American and French Revolutions, American Civil War, and World War II happened.
History is repeating, and this Summer Solstice followed by the New Moon here in Cancer is the gateway to the new world being built now.
Use this lunar cycle to at least make a plan to figure shit out. Seriously. Also, we’re approaching a Mercury retrograde cycle in July, so you have early warning of more disruptions.
