Full Moon Aquarius 2024

Think the second Full Moon in Capricorn was something? That was nothing. This Full Moon is insane.

The Full Moon Itself

Full Moon Aquarius enters exact conjunction at 27 Aqu 15’11” on August 19th, 2024 at 11:25 AM PDT / 6:25 PM UTC. With this Full Moon being in Aquarius, the eleventh sign of the zodiac, expect the unexpected. The unconventional and the unorthodox, as well as rebellious tendencies to go our own independent ways will be amplified for the next couple of weeks.

Uranus and Saturn both co-rule this Full Moon, definitely involving major give and take between structure and rebellion. In the third decan of Aquarius, we get a decidedly Venusian/Libran vibe as well, so expect major shakeups in our relations with others and partnerships of all kinds.

Sun opposite Moon is the standard bearer aspect of any Full Moon, and we find ourselves at a culmination point from whatever was started during New Moon Leo (which I only addressed on this blog’s Facebook page due being severely drained from a very nasty summer cold or whatever the hell that was at the onset of Mercury Retrograde starting up… right on my natal Saturn no less!).

Regardless, projects and tasks are being finished up right now, and final details are certainly being applied. Given the aspects involved during this Full Moon, some completions are much more final than others, assuming Mercury Retrograde’s influence doesn’t force revisions leading into the next lunar cycle when things move back to forward momentum!

Other Aspects to the Full Moon

Highest Truths Challenged

Including asteroids, Full Moon Aquarius forms a tight Grand Cross with itself, Sun/Mercury retrograde/Vesta in Leo, Uranus on Algol in Taurus, and 6583 Destinn in Scorpio.

The Sun with Vesta (our most highly regarded beliefs or what we hold most sacred to ourselves) and with Mercury retrograde alone make this a very challenging Full Moon. Vesta and Mercury are both combust in this pattern, as they’re outside the cazimi point where they would blend fully with the Sun’s lifegiving and igniting rays.

What this means is that both our tightly-held ideals and beliefs, and how we communicate those values to both others and ourselves are a bit uncertain and open to challenge now.

Uranus on Algol is a powerful combination, with the planet of sudden changes, rebellion, and surprises on the unfortunate star of losing ones head and retribution. Squaring both the Full Moon and the Vesta/Sun/Mercury Rx complex (so a T-square by itself), there are some sudden challenges and unexpected power plays we need to watch out for. How well do you adhere to those beliefs? Because your faith is about to be challenged.

And Destinn opposing Uranus and squaring the Full Moon and Sun’s conjunctions? Destiny is in the wings, and it’s in the sign of the Scorpion. There’s some serious back-room and hidden influences at work driving, well, destiny. We are supposed to be going through this crisis of faith.

Now, Full Moon Aquarius sextile Eris retrograde in Aries does allow us a little bit of degree of control in the midst of all this chaos. We might actually be able to use some of the discord to our advantage, but we’re going to have to confront some serious hard truths if we’re going to come out of this without severe damage to our beliefs and self-worth. And with Eris retrograde conjunct Chiron retrograde, we have some serious opportunity for catharsis.

But, it is going to have to happen. Our growth will be forced now… if we survive the madness.

Other Noteworthy Aspects During the Full Moon

Incredible Frustration

Mars and Jupiter in Gemini apex a serious T-Square between Venus and 100 Hekate in Virgo, and Saturn retrograde and Nessus retrograde in Pisces.

No, this is not an easy Full Moon. At all.

Jupiter conjunct Mars is already inflaming passions, and Jupiter’s not in its best spot being opposite its home sign of Sagittarius either. Jupiter expands what it touches, and it’s touching Mars, the planet of passion, energy, drive, stamina, and raw sexual energy. We really want to get things going, tell the world what we want to accomplish, and go and do.

But… Saturn and Nessus retrogrades squaring Jupiter/Mars not only stifles that optimism and drive Jupiter would have, but this combination also inflames tension and frustration to the nth degree. Saturn constricts, blocks, and holds back. Nessus is utterly despotic in this combination, and in union with Saturn, we’re seeing rules, regulations, and plans for domination unfolding. In Pisces, that combination is also shattering dreams and laying waste to illusions.

Venus and Hekate on the other side of this T-Square in Virgo, this is where it gets even more tense. Venus in Virgo tends to be transactional. You might have the “sultry librarian” vibe in a way, but with Saturn/Nessus and Jupiter-Mars both hard-aspecting this, it’s more like the dominatrix from hell nitpicking you to death. Hekate with this adds hard choices to the mix, and I would also argue the threat of black magick or serious psychic or negative entity attack to block your hopes and ambitions.

Honestly, the markets could prove to be unstable with this T-Square and the Uranus on Algol Grand Cross /T-Square (if not counting Destinn or Vesta). Those who haven’t proved their worth as worthy investments of time and trust are very likely to be replaced, if they haven’t already been.

Expect a metric shit-ton of buyer’s remorse. Don’t knock down walls and start renovating your house right now. This isn’t the time.

As a reminder, Mercury is also retrograde. Expect reversals.

Past Indiscretions Will Haunt All

Black Moon Lilith conjunct Juno and South Node Libra squares off with Ceres retrograde, Pholus retrograde, and Ixion retrograde in Capricorn. The North Node in Aries completes a T-Square.

South Node and Lilith together already are bringing a lot of hidden matters and issues from the past to the surface to be dealt with. With Juno here, our commitments and partnerships are seriously challenged and undergoing a mass review now. South Node Libra is already decimating partnerships and links that aren’t meant to endure already anyways.

Ceres and Pholus retrogrades squaring this is also pointing to some broken home potentials here, with intoxicants, distractions, and perhaps even chemical issues (like allergens) wreaking havoc. A strong possibility of domestic annoyances blowing up now.

Ixion in the mix also indicates the potential of straying, or temptations to stray. Again, in Capricorn, there’s an element of transactional relations here. And, Ixion and Juno are in range of interacting with 1930 Lucifer in Cancer (Juno squaring Lucifer, and Ixion opposing). Pride issues are also on display for decimating domestic tranquility and causing private life strife. Lucifer, however, isn’t in range to create a Grand Cross to the North Node, so this isn’t as strong an influence as it could be.

In the pursuit of our own goals and ambitions, and wanting to get on with our own destinies, we’re definitely finding out which links to others are not going to help us get there. Just be careful not to cut links that shouldn’t be cut.

Erasing Distractions

Neptune retrograde in Pisces conjunct fixed star Scheat sextiles both Pluto retrograde in early Aquarius, and Uranus on Algol in Taurus. Pluto also offsign trines Uranus. There’s a lot going on here that we should unpack, but fortunately this proves to be a softer aspect pattern.

Neptune on Scheat warns us not to give in to temptations, addictions, and delusions. With Neptune retrograde here, we’re looking inwards and can make strides towards breaking some serious bad habits.

Neptune sextile Pluto also allows for some benefit in discarding and doing away with things that are not of benefit to us. As this is in early Aquarius, some of the newer tech and developments are proving to not have been the promised land, such as the lull in some AI developments and social media issues. The legal and institutional ramifications of such platforms and technologies are also being scrutinized by governments across the globe, such as the U.K. cracking down on “dangerous posts” online in the wake of a triple murder and conspiracy theories and accusations being shared en masse, versus Elon Musk and his handling of X (formerly Twitter) and the cries of “free speech” (both real and facetious) and the conflicts with international authority figures.

Uranus also plays into this with the rebellion and instability in terms of, well, stability. Some balance could be found in the end here, but I would say that there’s a major reevaluation of technology and its role in our lives, as well as our relationships to platforms, governments, and the people we interact with.

In Closing

This Full Moon in Aquarius is bringing a great deal of chaos and reckoning to many aspects of our lives right now. What we’ve taken for granted, and what we profess to hold as our core drive and why we do things, they’re being challenged, dismantled, destroyed, and reforged.

It doesn’t help that we’re in the middle of a contentious election year in many countries, especially here in the United States. There’s some serious choices we all need to make in our lives, and how our societies operate going forward… of if our societies will even continue.

Expect serious reversals of fortune to continue playing out like a long game of Pong, and unfortunately I also see the likelihood of more violence and bloodshed (examples: Ukraine’s entry into Russia’s Kursk region; the political landscape in the United States and other countries; actual electoral manipulations (Venezuela) and possible plotting (again, United States)).

Stay safe out there. And keep your immune systems up, there’s too many nasty bugs going around lately.
