New Moon Leo goes exact at 02 Leo 08’16” on July 24th, 2025 at 12:11 PM PDT / 19:11 PM UTC.
This New Moon takes place in the first decan of Leo, in the domain of the Sun, and the fifth house of the zodiac. Fun, creativity, matters involving flings, short-term romances, children, perhaps making children… these all feature prominently. However, they won’t be as smooth sailing as we would like due to other alignments going on which we’ll get to.
Sun conjunct Moon denotes a time of fresh starts, new beginnings, and setting off on a new journey. This time, it seems like we drew the Fool reversed in a way as we could find ourselves walking off of a cliff if we’re not careful.
Other Aspects to the New Moon
Reap the Harvest of Evolution
New Moon Leo forms a bowl pattern with a sextile to Uranus in Gemini, a trine to Saturn retrograde and Neptune retrograde in Aries, and the opposition to Pluto retrograde in Aquarius.
This much air and fire energy at the onset of a new lunar cycle can be quite intense. We start with the opposition to Pluto retrograde.
So Pluto is the destroyer and renewer, as I’ve mentioned many times before. With the tight opposition to the New Moon in Leo, we can find ourselves at odds with sudden and unexpected events that serve to disrupt our more fun and exciting plans and ideas.
The trine to Neptune and Saturn retrogrades tempers this somewhat as we can draw on our internal wisdom and notate what needs to be changed so we don’t stay stuck in the mud. Pluto retrograde sextile Neptune retrograde and Saturn retrograde also adds to this frequency in seeing what needs to go so we can get to where we need to go. We’ll have to figure out what we need to ditch so we can improve our own situation.
The sextile between the New Moon and Uranus also adds to the potential for softening the blow from some surprises. Don’t expect a soft landing though, as Uranus is making full use of no longer being in Taurus, and is raising hell all the same. Be watchful for sudden acceleration in forced events, documents to sign, and other disruptive events. Uranus trine Pluto retrograde does offer a glimpse of hope in figuring out where we need to cut our losses so we don’t go down with the armada.
Uranus conjunct 16 Psyche, 1912 Anubis, and Sedna also adds to the fated event vibe. Betrayals can come to light right now. Based on the news, betrayals are coming to light… and it’s ugly. The news cycle will likely only get more insane as New Moon Leo also squares 11144 Radiocommunicata in 0 degrees Taurus.
Other Notable Aspects During the New Moon
Yes, Mercury is in Retrograde
Mercury retrograde began a few days before this New Moon takes place, and in Leo to boot, so the new beginnings are somewhat… scattered.
This Mercury retrograde will remain entirely in Leo, and will stop short of the New Moon degree by about 3 degrees as of August 11th, so most of this lunar cycle will be disrupted. Don’t expect creative projects to go smoothly.
That said, this is a good time to review, revise, and return to some older projects that might be able to be hashed out now. Even revising old plans for business ventures that weren’t acted upon before may be beneficial, especially given the bowl aspect the New Moon makes to the outer planets. Now, acting on and starting something new based on those revised plans? You may have better luck if you elect to do that after the retrograde ends.
Fall of the Tower of Lies
Mercury retrograde in Leo conjunct 2629 Rudra acts as an amplifier to the chaotic energies surrounding travel, technology, and communications.
It’s only fitting that we watch for intentional misleading with Mercury retrograde opposing 8690 Swindle retrograde in Aquarius. The lies and falsehoods are returning to sender about now, and it’s intense. Also, with Mercury retrograde square Black Moon Lilith in Scorpio, some really deep, dark, sordid secrets will be coming out into the light as well. And it’s seemingly Lovecraftian in its intensity.
However, Mercury retrograde makes an asteroid Fire Grand Trine with 6157 Prey in Aries and 26955 Lie retrograde in Sagittarius. So peole who have been wronged before? Their stories have a way of coming out.
“A lie always returns. Be careful how you catch it.”

Deluge of Instability
Venus in Gemini apexes a T-Square between Mars on the South Node in Virgo, and Nessus retrograde with the North Node in Pisces.
This is a dangerous combination alone.
Mars on the South Node in Virgo brings up issues from our past and the consequences of previous comfort zones and stagnation in growth, and it does so forcefully. Mars isn’t patient about this sort of thing, and it will force the issue.
Mars opposite Nessus retrograde and North Nodein Pisces adds to the carnage. Nessus is the abuser’s asteroid, and at best can represent obsessions that don’t die. It also represents revenge from the grave, given the centaur’s revenge against Hercules in legend.
Nessus retrograde also conjuncts 7328 Casanova and 9770 Discovery, leading to blowback from past indiscretions and the revelations of the details stemming from this blowback.
Mars conjunct 8543 Tsunemi and 307 Nike in Virgo with the South Node also points to a tsunami of past discoveries and analyses. Sins have a way of returning, so if you’re thinking of committing some cardinal sins? Reconsider. Especially with Mercury and Saturn retrogrades.
Both sets squaring Venus, 10 Hygiea, and 1388 Aphrodite in Gemini to apex the T-Square completes the carnage. Venus is what we find valuable, our relationships, our money, stability, what we yearn for and value. Health is certainly a big part of that as well, and Venus/Hygiea square 4086 Podalirius (with Mars in Virgo) adds to this theme. Think lower legs and the extremities like the feet and ankles. A good reminder to keep an eye on our cardiac and blood flow health. (Note to self: keep up with the supplement and nutritional regimen).
Aphrodite involved with all of this also adds to the chaos when it comes to temptations of the flesh, and pursuing romances that aren’t going to go right now. This really isn’t a good time to start a new relationship or even fling with Mercury retrograde at the same time. Also note that Aphrodite is in Gemini, ruled by… Mercury.
In Closing
While we normally would see the New Moon in Leo as an opportunity for fun, relaxation, and new f***s under the sun, the retrogrades that are active (cough Mercury retrograde cough) does not allow for an uninterrupted summer. Also, we’ve got all outer planets right now in air and fire signs. Things are going to be moving quickly enough that we won’t have time to plan for fun and games all that well.
That said, enjoy the little things where you can. Maintain some sanity and some sort of reward for yourself so you don’t go insane. Especially with Saturn and Neptune together. And do remember that they’ll reenter Pisces in the near future, so delusions and the ever-destructive whispers of fears and misgivings will attempt to drown us again before too long. Take any good advantage you have now (which doesn’t screw anyone else over) and make your floatation devices now, and prepare for the flood of insanity about to come forth.
Keep in mind that we’re a month and a half away from Eclipse Season as well. So shore up the long-term plans as best as you can, and start figuring out where you need to be flexible if you haven’t already done so.
Don’t give up hope, but be aware of the chaos about to unfold.
