New Moon Scorpio 2024

We’re entering uncharted territory. Are you ready?

The New Moon Itself

New Moon Scorpio enters peak intensity at 09 Sco 35’22” on November 1st, 2024 around 5:47 AM PDT / 12:47 PM UTC.

This New Moon is in the eight sign of the zodiac, Scorpio, which brings with it the air of the occult, sensual and sexual overtones, debts and other people’s resources, and of course, death. Perfect for this time of year which links up with Halloween, Samhain, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), and All Saints Day.

Needless to say, this is a very Plutonian time, and also a Martian time, as both of these bodies rule Scorpio. And, they are very much interacting with one another as we will get into shortly.

Sun conjunct Moon is the primary aspect, bringing with it new beginnings, starting new projects, and getting things off of the ground (or attempting to, anyways). Set some good intentions now, because you are going to need them. We have the opportunity to sow some good seeds for the future. We just have to prevent a blight on the future.

One way or another, many ledgers will be cleared with this lunar cycle.

Other Aspects to the New Moon

Forging Better Realities

New Moon Scorpio trines Saturn retrograde in Pisces, which helps a ton given the other aspects we’ve got going on.

Saturn in Pisces splashes some cold water on the otherwise dreamlike and illusory energies in this Neptunian sign. We get waken up out of our slumber in a way. And with Saturn retrograde here, we are forced to confront where we’ve been chasing phantoms.

The trine to the New Moon in Scorpio indicates a lunar cycle for the following four weeks or so where we can more easily confront the reality and cast off our illusions. An opportunity to wake up from the daydream.

Unleashing the Pandora’s Box

New Moon Scorpio also squares 55 Pandora and 3811 Karma in Leo, and also opposes 2601 Bologna retrograde in Taurus.

The square to Pandora and Karma in the sign of Leo makes for some interesting imagery. For some, there will have been or will be a desire to open packages (figuratively and literally) that really should remain shut. But caution is thrown to the wind, and they get to reap the whirlwind.

As for the opposition to Bologna, well, some individuals and groups will find that the baloney they’ve been spouting will smack them right in the face. Again, reaping the whirlwind of their nonsense and quest for glory.

Expect the harvest to be reaped now, for good or for ill. Remember: A lie tends to return to sender. How will it be caught: skillfully with the other webs of deceit, or right in the face?

Other Noteworthy Aspects During the New Moon

Scorpionic Reckoning

Mars in Cancer opposite Pluto and 114 Kassandra in the last degree of Capricorn makes for the major aspect for this new lunar cycle starting up.

Mars, the planet of war, passion, drive, and anger is not only in the fourth sign, Cancer, thus amplifying emotions, but it is also in the pre-retrograde shadow phase before it begins its reversal in early December this year. So Mars is already slowing down somewhat, but still potent. Explosive temper tantrums and domestic unrest are distinct possibilties.

Pluto, lord of the underworld and the destroyer and renewer, is preparing to leave Capricorn for the rest of our natural lives, barring major life extension in the future. We’re seeing this play out with the shakeup and turmoil in our governing institutions, career changes, and serious reckonings in the public reputational spheres.

Kassandra also represents the phrase “Cassandra syndrome”, where one warns others of danger, but is not believed until (and even after) the danger occurs. Pluto with Kassandra indicates some serious warnings of upheaval, and still people are going full-speed into the brick wall.

With Mars and Pluto opposing in this pattern, there’s a major potential for violence, anger, raised tensions, and the desperate clinging onto status and power. Downfalls that occur with this aspect, I feel, will be maximally intense, and decisively final for some.

Disloyalty Brings Ruin

Mars square 4386 Lust, Juno, 99942 Apophis, and 2598 Merlin in Libra, painting another painful picture.

Lust is appropriately named here, and note that it’s in the sign of relationships and partnerships, Libra. Combined with Juno (contracts, marriage, matrimony), and Apophis (destruction), infidelity is a major theme that we’ll be seeing here. Merlin here also imparts other lessons. Hopefully we’re wise enough to avoid unnecessary temptations.

The other square, to Hygiea retrograde in Aries, denotes another danger: self-inflicted injuries and potential undoing of health from being careless in our activities.

Use protection if you’re going to be intimate with new partners during this lunar cycle. Always a good rule to follow, but given the aspects and the picture painted here, it’s certainly worth mentioning.

This could also be the unveiling of abuses, sexual and otherwise, in the public eye given the proximity of each set of asteroids to squaring Pluto and Kassandra as well. Perhaps some revelations have been discussed or brought up but ignored until now.

Woe to those who have engaged in such abuses. They won’t get away with it in the end. Jeffrey Epstein sure didn’t. And he still comes up in the news from the grave, snaring others who benefited from lustful crimes.

I don’t think this is over yet.

Losing Heads While Calling Tails

Uranus retrograde in Taurus continues its conjunction to fixed star Algol. Again, the rebel and bringer of surprising events and shake-ups in the fixed sign of the Bull continues to dance with the Eye of Medusa. Major swings in finances and fortunes are still very much in play right now, and its easy to lose ones’ shirt and ones’ head if warnings go unheeded.

Fortunately, Uranus retro makes a trine to Pluto. This helps mitigate some of the shocks for those who are wise enough to heed warnings in time. Granted, some might even benefit from some risky moves right now (thus mitigating some, but not all, losses). Make sure you don’t gamble more than you’re willing to lose.

Those seeking to swindle their way into ill-gotten gains are also more likely to be sent to the River Styx if they continue to want to play ill-advised games right now, especially for this next month.

There is, also, the matter of Uranus retrograde opposing Mercury in Scorpio. Some upsetting and/or surprising messages are likely, such as debts owed to government. Fortunately, Mercury sextile Pluto helps mitigate this a little bit, perhaps shrinking the potential debts.

Mercury does also make a trine to Mars, potentially softening some harsh messages and calming a few tempers. It could also make for more sensual or passionate messages between lovers, which isn’t a bad thing. (Again, heed the warnings against ill-advised unions and infidelities from the Lust/Juno/Apophis complex).

Mars, Mercury, Pluto, and Uranus retrograde really form a mystic rectangle, all things considered. Some trines, some sextiles, and if you look at it on a chart, it looks like a rectangle with an X. Think of this as a letter in our mailboxes: Shakeups are coming, but good things are still out there if you play this right, so don’t make obvious bad plays now.

Ride the Dream Wave

Neptune retrograde in Pisces also interacts with Mars and Mercury by forming a Water Grand Trine.

We already have seen Mars and Mercury in that trine, but when we add Neptune retro into the mix, we’ve got a mental and spiritual boost we can benefit from, provided we work for it.

Neptune retrograde does have more of an introspective, self-centering feel to it too. If we calm ourselves and quiet and center ourselves, we may find that we have a good plan of action for working some mental magic.

Neptune trine Mars indicates that we can act more intuitively and in a more measured manner. Basically, thinking before we charge into a raging inferno. Planning our attacks. Looking before we leap.

Neptune trine Mercury allows for some more thoughtful communication, and also for intuitively sensing if a travel path isn’t going to work out. Like having that vibe to take a slightly different way to or from work and finding out that you avoided a multi-car pileup.

Combined in the water grand trine, we can plan some very nice courses of actions to help ourselves build more intelligently. The dark side of the grand trine rule applies: We can’t just sit back and not do the work, or all that inspiration will go to waste. Laziness and not following through can derail any benefits to these trines.

Get kraken. Err, cracking.

Dark Side of the Crow

Black Moon Lilith conjunct fixed star Algorab in Libra is something that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Lilith here is forcing us to look at the darker shadows of our relationships with others, particularly in more committed and serious partnerships (business, romantic, or other ways).

Algorab is part of the constellation Corvus, the Crow. Algorab is a Mars/Saturn-vibed star, and warns us to be careful of deceptions, half-truths, and those who would use underhanded means to get what they want.

Be on guard for false friends and allies during this lunar cycle with this Lilith/Algorab union.

Throwing Caution to the Wind

Jupiter retrograde in Gemini opposing Venus and Pallas in Sagittarius does warn against overconfidence and excessive bluster.

Jupiter isn’t in a good spot in Gemini, given that it opposes its home sign of Sagittarius. It’s weaker here, so the optimism and expansion isn’t as much as it could be. And with it being retrograde right now, we’re forced to downscale some of our more lofty goals.

The opposition to Venus involves some give and take, especially where wanderlust and other lofty ambitions come into play. Venus here wants to travel, wants to learn, wants to ask “what if?”

Pallas here also involves a degree of wisdom while we engage in this wishful thinking. With both Venus and Pallas opposing Jupiter retrograde, we’re forced to look at things realistically. It’s good to have dreams, but you’ve got to build the bridge to get to them. Or at the very least, find another way across. If you try to Superman it now, you’re going to probably fall.

We have to be realistic.

Jupiter retrograde sextile Chiron retrograde in Aries does have the benefit of indicating some self-reflection here. We can see where we’ve been overconfident before and where that hurt us. We can learn from those previous ill-advised leaps, and find some better footing for later when conditions are a little better-suited for us to leap into the dream life we’d like.

We may just have to build in silence for a little bit longer, biding time.

What You Should Probably Leave Behind

Finally, we have 128 Nemesis conjunct the South Node in Libra.

Nemesis is retribution, and it is also its namesake: A nemesis. Or nemeses. You’ve probably had some people you’d rather not encounter again, and it’s not even Mercury or Venus retrograde.

The South Node with Nemesis warns us not to get too comfy in our comfort zones. We’ve got to grow, and if we cling to people or situations that are no longer good for us, we’re going to stagnate. And given that this is the New Moon Scorpio cycle, now’s a good time to remember this:

Stagnation equals death.

In Closing

We’ve got some major decisions we have to make now with this lunar cycle stemming from New Moon Scorpio. If we don’t, we will find that some unpleasant choices are made for us.

Act. Move. But be smart about it. Make a plan, and make sure it’s a solid plan.

There’s a potential for having to make some pretty ugly choices during this lunar cycle, but if we don’t do what we need to to improve our situation, then your adversaries are likely to make those moves for you. In the opposite direction than what you’d like.

This is also a time where we need to look at the big picture, look at our situations honestly, and resolve to make some better choices. Relationships, health, career. It’s probably pretty obvious what’s not working for you right now.

Salvage what you can. It’s possible you just have to make a minor adjustment for some big results, depending on your natal placements to the placements under this New Moon window.

For the rest of us, we’ve got to do some quiet building now, plan, and once we’ve got a clearer picture, put those better plans in motion.

Snap to it. And may fortune favor the bold.
